Imposter held in city

SHILLONG: Police on Friday apprehended an imposter who allegedly duped a woman of over Rs 3 lakh by promising her a warden’s job in the district jail.
SP City Vivek Syiem said an FIR was received from Yomika Rabon, a resident of Nongmynsong Langkyrding, Shillong stating that on October 26 last year, one Jester Syiemlieh of Lumsyiap Block-A approached her and introduced himself as a policeman having links with high officials.  He also offered her a job as warden in the district jail in return of a sum of Rs.4 lakh. Accordingly, Rs.3.11 lakh was paid to the accused but the woman soon discovered that the so called policeman was an imposter.
Based on the complaint, the accused was apprehended on Friday and legal action is being initiated against him.
Police said that any person having similar complaints against the accused can lodge their written complaint at the nearest police station.
