SHILLONG: Health Minister A.L. Hek on Friday expressed concern over media reports that contaminated water was being supplied to residents of Shillong by the PHE department.
Sating that Deputy Chief Minister in charge PHE, R.C. Laloo, was out of town, Hek said he would hold discussions with the PHE minister once he returns to ensure that potable water is made available to the people.
“It is the responsibility of the government to provide the same,” Hek said.
The KHNAM Youth Wing had on Thursday released test reports which confirmed that the water supplied in the city was highly acidic and unfit for human consumption.  The KHNAM also sent the report to the PHE Minister asking him to take necessary steps in this regard.
