SHILLONG: In a shocking incident, a 17 year old was arrested on charges of raping a woman at Mawlai Iewrynghep, Shillong on the morning of January 14.
Police called it an open and shut case and added that the charge sheet would be filed shortly.
In another instance of rape of a minor, police arrested one Zairul Islam on charge of raping a fifteen year old girl at Maikhuli village under Pillangkata outpost in Ri Bhoi on January 15.
In yet another incident, a complaint was filed by one Lutmon Surong of Amsarim village against one Chirup Pakyntein in which the former claimed that the accused had raped her niece five months back and had also threatened her with dire consequences.
