6 traders released

SHILLONG:  The remaining six traders, who were under the custody of suspected UALA militants, were released by the abductors on Wednesday under pressure from the security forces and the public.
Earlier on Tuesday, one of the of the seven abducted Assam traders, who was taken hostage by the armed Garo criminals while returning from a weekly market in Kharkutta region of North Garo Hills, escaped from their captivity following a raid by the police.
The trader identified as Tustu Mohan Paul of Daranggre Darapara village in Goalpara, Assam escaped from the clutches of the militants from a place near Gabil under Bajengdoba.
Other six traders, Manoranjan Sarkar, Putul Mukherji, Piyush Biswas, Pradip Das, Bijoy Sarkar and Ganesh Basu were released without paying any ransom, police sources said.
