Now contributions to EPF through online mode only

SHILLONG: As part of the e-governance initiative of the Union government, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a major step towards this direction by mandating payment of EPF monthly dues by all establishments enrolled under EPFO through internet banking only from January 1, 2016.
Meanwhile, five days grace period for payment of EPF monthly dues by establishments have also been abolished effectively from February, 2016.
Speaking to media persons on Monday, Regional Commissioner, EPFO, R.W. Syiem informed that during the period of April, 2015 to December, 2015, EPFO Sub Regional Office, Shillong has settled 5081 claims in favour of its subscribers and recoveries amounting to Rs.1.35 crore from defaulting establishments  were also made during the period.
EPFO has also launched its flagship programme of dissemination and activation of Universal Account Number (UAN) and with regards to this, EPFO has activated 18932 UANs while 23147 KYCs have been updated.
Through this UAN programme, individual EPFO subscribers can now check their respective PF balances submit nomination forms and avail various PF related activities.
Syiem has requested people who have not activated their UAN to activate it immediately.
