SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh has expressed his unhappiness over the differences within the party, especially the tussle between the Chief Minister and the KHADC CEM, during his meeting with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi last week.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Wednesday, Lyngdoh said there is an urgent need to bring unity in the party.
To a question, Lyngdoh said his meeting with Sonia had nothing to do with the much talked about reshuffle though his name was rumored to be among those who would be dropped from the cabinet.
“I don’t think there will be any reshuffle in the cabinet,” Lyngdoh said, while terming his meeting with the Congress president as a ‘courtesy call’.
He added that it was his first meeting with the Congress president and had been arranged by AICC general secretary in charge Meghalaya V. Narayanasamy.
“Since I was in Delhi, I thought I will meet the Congress president. However, I have talked to her about the political situation in the State as we want unity in the party,” Lyngdoh said.
Asked whether there was still a demand for change of leadership, the Congress leader said, “Not at the moment, but I do not know about the future.”
