Exhibition-cum-sale of agricultural produce

NONGPOH: In a bid to showcase different types of agriculture produce of Easter Ri Bhoi and also to encourage the farmers of the area, the Eastern Ri-Bhoi Farmers’ Association (ERBFA) on Thursday organized the Exhibition cum sale of agriculture, horticulture and Aqua cultural products in collaboration with the ICAR, Umiam, NEH, Region which was held at at Kurkalang playground, Bhoirymbong.
The programme was attended by ICAR, Umiam Director, S.V Ngachan who also graced the exhibition as the chief guest in the presence of farmers from different villages of Umroi Constituency.
The exhibition was also attended by ERBFA president, S. Thabah, Secretary, F.D Ramsiej who presided over the function and working president, C.L Masharing .
Speaking at the function, Director of ICAR, S.V Ngachan said the main aim of the exhibition was to showcase the rich agriculture products of the area, strengthening market linkage and increase awareness among stakeholders on skill development in agriculture.
He also exhorted the farmers that they should be proud enough that Meghalaya is the only state with the largest produce of ginger and good quality of turmeric in the country; however, it is the duty of the farmer to work together for promoting agriculture as a source of livelihood in the state, he added.
