FKJGP urges motor workers association to resume services to Chokpot

TURA: In view of problems being faced by the people due to temporary suspension of vehicular service to and from Chokpot by the Garo Hills Motor Workers Association (GHMWA) in protest against the recent kidnapping of a bus driver and his conductor by unidentified militants, the FKJGP, Garo Hills Zone along with the Chokpot Circle have appealed to the association to resume service along the route.
The two persons were kidnapped by gun totting militants near Silkigre while they were returning with passengers from Dikrong in Chokpot to Tura in the morning of January 13.
The GHMWA had immediately shut down vehicular services to the region after the incident while the fate of the two kidnapped persons remains unknown to this day.
The FKJGP has appealed to the association to resume services to the region keeping in view the difficulties faced by the people while urging the militant groups to release the kidnapped persons unharmed.
Earlier, a signature campaign was also organized on January 23 by the people of Chokpot to appeal for the safe release of the victims.
