SHILLONG: A school headmaster in Tikrikilla has been asked to pay extortion to a group of miscreants.
Manowar Islam, Headmaster of Fr. George Memorial School, Paham under Tikrikilla PS (WGH) received an anonymous phone call in which the caller demanded Rs. 10 lakhs to be paid within two days.
An FIR was lodged by Fr. Binoy Joseph.Tura DC Pravin Bakshi said necessary action would be taken after acquiring proper details. He also informed that many small gangs are impersonating themselves as militants to get money. However, he added said that nothing can be ruled out at the moment.
