State Cong set to be revamped

SHILLONG: Aiming to assert its strength in the KHADC by-elections which is due soon and in view of the 2018 assembly polls in the State, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has decided to pull its act together and revamp the party.
The Congress on Monday discussed the pros and cons of revamping the party at a meeting here which was attended by Lok Sabha member from Shillong Vincent Pala, Home Minister Roshan Warjri and Forest Minister Prestone Tynsong, besides other party leaders and workers.
MPCC president D.D. Lapang said the party was yet to take a decision on the candidates for the KHADC by-elections since the election to the vacant seats is likely to be held in April this year.
He informed that the party has appointed former KHADC MDC Irene Lyngdoh as the main organizer from     Mawthadraishan, and added that P.T. Sawkmie will represent the party in Mawlai after the death of former minister Founder Strong Cajee. He further stated that the party has admitted the KHADC Deputy CEM (Sawkmie) as a member of the Congress.
