NGT hearing on limestone on Feb 9

SHILLONG: The hearing of NGT on limestone mining in the State and  illegal constructions at Balpakram National Park was deferred to February 9.
The matter was listed on Wednesday after  NGT had directed the state government to file its status report on  lime stone mining  and encroachment by way of illegal constructions in Balpakram National Park .
Counsel for the state government Ranjan Mukherjee said that the  state government has already field the affidavit mentioning that there was already  a hearing on the limestone mining in the High Court of Meghalaya  and the state government had complied with the directions of the Court.
As far as Balpakram is concerned, Mukherjee said that illegal construction was stopped by the district administration and the area will be demarcated.
