ICAR to assist War region farmers

SHILLONG: Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Umiam, has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the farmers of the War region with an aim to create awareness and training to the farmers here.
The Director, ICAR, SV Ngachan informed this in a meeting with the Riwar Mihngi Development Council (RMDC) while they met him at his chamber on Tuesday.
The RMDC led by its president SB Tariang urged the Director to provide necessary requirements to revive agriculture practices which include the cultivation of betelnut and betel leaf, farming of pepper, cucumber etc at War region and the Director has assured farmers of all help that they may need.
In this connection, RMDC will convene a meeting of the farmers to enable them to explore various dimensions of agricultural practices which will be provided by ICAR.
