BSF seizes logs worth Rs 4 lakh 
SHILLONG: The troops of BSF deployed at border out post Baghmara, South Garo Hills  seized 99.91 cft wooden logs worth Rs.4,56,737 while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh through Simsang river.  When the BSF Party reached the spot, smugglers fled away taking advantage of darkness and nearby dense forest.
Though the water level in Simsang river has come down to a few feet, at many places,  miscreants  still  attempt to smuggle wooden logs in a bamboo raft. Alert BSF troops foiled the ill design of these criminals
Simsang river has been a sensitive route for smuggling of contraband items in the past too.
On 11 February 2016, the troops of BSF deployed at border outpost  Gasuapara,  apprehended one Bangladeshi national namely  Abdullah(23 ) from Mymensingh district  while he was infiltrating into Indian territory.
WB truck driver assaulted
On February 11 at about 3 am, unidentified miscreants assaulted one Rakesh Prasad, driver of truck (WB-23B-6049) at 13th Mile, Byrnihat (Ri bhoi) and drove away the truck. Later, the truck was recovered from Jagiroad, Assam. In this connection, Police arrested two persons, Vicky Chettri (24) and  Raja Basumatary (23).
Bike rider injured
On February 11 at about 4 pm, a bike rider identified as Ferguson Lyngdoh (27) was injured after the bike collided with one Maruti Alto at Langkyrding.
House gutted
On February 9 at around 3.30 pm, a fire broke out in the house of Md. Toripulla Dewani at Babupara, New Bhaitbari ( WGH) in which the house was gutted along with household articles including cash Rs. 65,000.  Total loss of property is estimated at Rs. 6 lakh.
Tyres, batteries stolen  
On February 9 night, two tyres, two rims and batteries were stolen from a Recovery Van (ML-07A-7854) at Shillong, By-pass.
One Kolito S Manner lodged a complaint that on February  5, two tyres from his truck (ML-04-3905) which was parked at Shangpung Moosyiem (WJH) were stolen.
Assault
One Kenny Roger Marak lodged a complaint that on February  8 at  around 10 pm, unidentified miscreants  snatched his mobile phone after assaulted   him near M/s AOC Petrol Pump, Hawakhana, Tura (WGH).
Bike stolen
On February 8 night, one motorcycle (ML-08C-6040) belonging to  Bablu Hajong  was stolen from Hawakhana, Tura (WGH).
