Child care village conducts enrollment ceremony

SHILLONG: SOS Children’s Village, a leading child care organization here conducted an Investiture (Enrollment) ceremony on Friday at its premises, where 10 scouts, 15 guides and three senior guides were enrolled on the occasion.
The ceremony was carried out by a Special Officer-cum-Guide Captain Wilees Tariang of Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guides in the presence of chief guest Amelia Swer State Secretary, Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guides, D N Sharma District Commissioner (scout) of Ri-Bhoi district and Anoop Singh Village Director, SOS Children’s Village. The Scouts and Guides cadres who have qualified to receive Rashtrapati (President) and Rajyapuraskar (Governor) Award in 2016 were also felicitated on the occasion.
To add variety to the ceremony, the children also presented group song and a skit. Addressing the gathering chief guest Swer said that Scout and guide will help the children to be more responsible citizens of the country. She also emphasized on creating such opportunities whenever possible.
