JOWAI: Police have arrested two persons including a surrendered HNLC cadre from Amlarem for demanding money from a businessman at Amlarem.
The arrested former HNLC cadre is Ngia Bareh. Other arrested person is Pynbiang Lyngdoh.
According to West Jaintia Hills district police chief, R. Muthu, the duo was nabbed when they came to collect Rs. 5 lakh from a local business man. They served a demand note to him in the letter head of the banned HNLC a few days back. They also threatened to kill him if he failed to pay the amount.
