Suspected ASAK militant killed

SHILLONG: A suspected ASAK militant was killed when a group of militants from ASAK and police exchanged fire at a village in Baghmara on Saturday night. The slain militant is yet to be identified.
A pistol, some live ammunition and SIM cards were recovered. Police said that a chance encounter took place with 6 to 7 armed militants in the jungle area near Kemdang, under Baghmara police station after SWAT team from Baghmara launched a counter insurgency operation on Saturday night following information that ASAK self-styled commander -in-chief Reding with a group of armed militants were camping there.
The militants opened fire at the police team and after a brief exchange of fire, a militant was found dead in the encounter site, while others fled.
