TURA: Unidentified miscreants on Saturday night broke into M/S Students’ Book Emporium, a book store at Ringrey Market in Tura and made off with cash kept inside the shop.
As per the shop owner, the thieves entered the shop by breaking open the shutters and managed to decamp with over Rs 50,000 in cash.Books and other items which were kept inside the shop were left untouched.
Meanwhile, shopkeepers who have their shops nearby have blamed it on the absence of street lights in the area for the incident.
“There are no streetlights in the area and the thieves must have taken advantage of the darkness to break into the shop.Had the concerned authorities taken care to provide streetlights, the incident could have been prevented,” a shopkeeper said.
