NEPA constable gets Police Medal
SHILLONG: North East Police Academy has informed on Monday that during the occasion of India’s 67th Republic Day on January 26, the President of India has awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service to Kumud Deka, Head Constable (GD) of North Eastern Police Academy, Umsaw, Ri Bhoi, in recognition of excellent and long years of service, high sense of dedication to duty and discipline par excellence.
Woman assaulted by six miscreants
SHILLONG: A woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of six miscreants who even cut her hair.
Police said that the incident occurred on Sunday when six persons – Starlinti Blah, Bakyrmen Blah, Centre Rose Blah, Fatima Blah, Sonatola Blah and Barida Blah – assaulted her and also cut her hair forcibly at Langkyrdem in East Khasi Hills.
Police said they are investigating into the matter.
Teenage girl missing in city
SHILLONG: A 14 year old girl from the city has gone missing.
A woman lodged a complaint that on February 13 around 2 PM, her daughter (14) was found missing along with cash Rs. 20,000 from her residence at Pynthorbah Block-I, Shillong.
The complainant suspected that the girl has been abducted by one Samir of Lumshyiap, Shillong.
Six-year-old allegedly raped
SHILLONG: A case of alleged rape of a six year old girl has been reported from Warmawsaw village in Ri Bhoi.
Police said the incident happened on February 12 when one Palat Tangpar (31) allegedly raped the girl at Warmawsaw village.
Police have arrested the accused and investigation is on.
Parents assault 4-year-old
SHILLONG: A four year old boy was allegedly assaulted by his parent at their residence at Golf Links, Shillong. The parents even left the child alone in the house.
Later, the headman of the locality shifted the child to Shillong Civil Hospital.
When contacted, police said they have not arrested the parents and they are inquiring into the matter.
Police also said that the child has not received any injuries.
2 bodies recovered in city
SHILLONG: Shillong police in the last two days have recovered two bodies from different parts of the city.
On Monday morning, one unidentified male body, approximately 50 years of age at the time of the death, was recovered from Iewduh, Shillong.
Earlier on Sunday, the body of one Alberstar Kurbah (36) was recovered from Wah Umshing, Mawlai, Shillong.
Smuggled cattle recovered at Pynursla
SHILLONG: Members of KSU Pynursla Unit on February 12 detected 12 heads of cattle from two vehicles which were suspected to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
KSU Pynursla Unit members detected one Tata Pick-up (ML-04B-6808) driven by Bani Thabah and one Bolero (ML-05M-6260) driven by Iaikyrmenlang Khongsngi at Pynursla in East Khasi Hills, while transporting twelve heads of cattle, suspected to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
Police later handed over the cattle to Custom officials for necessary action.
