UDP meet
The general council of the United Democratic Party East Khasi Hills District will be held on February 19 at Barik, opposite Pine Mount School at 11 AM.
Free health camp
The Indian Red Cross Society in collaboration with R & R Colony Welfare Society is organising a free multi-facility health camp at the L.P. School, R & R Colony, on February 21 from 10 AM. Random blood sugar test, paediatric, guinea, heart and general health check up facilities would be available. Registration will be held at the venue.
Cancer awareness
A workshop on cancer awareness was organised by Terapanth Mahila Mandal at Rajasthan Vishram Bhawan, Shillong, on Wednesday to commemorate World Cancer Day which is observed every year on February 4. Dr. Jyotsana Puri and Dr. Bhumika Sharma spoke on types, symptoms, causes and cure of cancer. The workshop was attended by members of Sri Jain Swetamber Terapanth Sabha, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad and Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Samity.
General meeting
The annual general meeting of the Shillong Central Rongali Bihu Committee will be held on the Assam Club premises, Laban, on February 21 at 11 AM. The meeting is scheduled to discuss formation of a new Bihu celebration committee.
Workshop
A one day livestock mela cum workshop on the theme ‘Livestock and Poultry Enterprise – A Holistic Approach’ organized by the Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, East Khasi Hills, under the National Livestock Mission 2014-2015 was inaugurated on Wednesday by K.C. Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary, at Mawngap under Mawphlang C&RD Block.
