Aizawl host Mumbai FC in I-League tie today
Aizawl: Mumbai FC would desperately be searching for their first away-win this season when they take on newly-promoted outfit Aizawl FC in an I-League match here on Saturday. The visitors are placed fifth on the nine-team I-League table with nine points from two wins and three draws in seven games. On the other hand, Aizawl are in the eighth spot with five points from a win and two draws. Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil mentioned that they are looking to recover from the loss of the last game where they were beaten by Sporting Clube de Goa 2-3. A win would ensure that the Mumbai team does not slip further in the standings. Aizawl will also be determined to go all out for a win which would lift them away from the bottom half of the table. Malik steps down from captaincy
Karachi: Pakistan’s seasoned all-rounder and former captain Shoaib Malik has stepped down from the captaincy of Karachi Kings franchise in the Pakistan Super League. Just one day before Karachi clash with Islamabad United in the playoffs, Malik announced on the channel which owns the Karachi franchise that he would like to be in the team only as a player. “My performance is being affected by the captaincy and I have not been able to fulfil my role. I spoke to the team management and owners and told them to kindly make Ravi Bhopara the captain,” Malik said. “I have always played for the team and not for myself and I want to deliver in the playoffs for Karachi which is why I stepped down as captain,” he said.
