SHILLONG: The students of a city college here got an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Indian Air Force including flight simulation thanks to the initiative of Easter Air Command.
A specially designed Induction Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV) arrived at the St. Anthony’s College on Saturday.
Students thronged the IPEV venue and were engaged in interactive sessions with audio visual presentations. Procedures on testing pattern for different types of entries, schedules, physical standard and medical examination criterion were explained to them.
Publicity materials including pamphlets, brochures, IAF calendars and posters were also distributed among the students. Some of the students experienced flight simulation in integrated IPEV.
According to Defence sources, the vehicle will also be available in Shillong on Sunday too and will be positioned near Shillong College for the benefit of students who wish to join Indian Air Force.
The IAF has embarked on a concerted familiarisation drive to help students choose Air Force as a career option by bringing the IPEV closer home to their towns and cities.
The IPEV has already covered Bagdogra, Hasimara, Guwahati, Tezpur and Jorhat in their journey.
The IPEV is a bus modified to show the various facets and the working of the IAF to aspirants across the country.
It was launched at Air Force Station in New Delhi on October 5, 2015.
The creatively-designed exteriors and state-of-the-art equipment like touch panels, tabs, simulator and video screens would provide the right platform for IAF’s branding and publicity efforts to attract the youth,
