SHILLONG: The CSWO has expressed concern over the delay on the part of the police to complete investigation against the various acts of alleged commissions and omissions by Deputy Secretary of the Governors Secretariat, N K Arjun and another official K G Choudhury who retired in 2015, after an FIR was filed in March 2015 against them.
In statement issued to the media, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that in the preliminary inquiry, the case was found to be true by a police officer who suggested filing of cognizable offence.
The CSWO in the FIR had alleged that Arjun, who was a temporary typist in the Governor’s Office, was responsible for the burning down of the Governor’s secretary’s office and quarters in March 2003 thereby destroying all important documents relating to transfer of staff from the government departments to the Governor’s housekeeping to office staff and to facilitate “dubious promotions” without following the due procedures of the government and also helping in the destruction of all gazettes related to the State.
The FIR also said that retired Deputy Secretary of the Governor’s Secretariat, Choudhury who claims pension from the State Exchequer was allegedly never an employee of the State of Meghalaya and was never promoted according to the rules and procedures of the State.
According to the CSWO, complaint was also filed with the Chief Secretary earlier by the organization against Arjun but to no avail. “The CSWO will take this case to the High Court,” Kharshiing said.
Nepotism charge
The CSWO also alleged that the present Under Secretary, a Steno II class (wife of a present Cabinet Minister) and a daughter of the present Rajya Sabha Member were employed or promoted without following the procedure of rules, but pushed in through the back door just because they happened to be related to politicians.
