SHILLONG: South West Garo Hills Police has denied allegations that a fraud accused, Abdul Motled Miah, who escaped from police custody, was roughed up by the cops.
The family members of Motled Miah, who was arrested in an alleged case of cheating and later “fled from police custody at Mahendraganj police station” on Tuesday afternoon, suspect foul play into the entire incident.
Additional SP, South West Garo Hills, Billy Graham Marak said that the accused escaped from custody when he went to attend to the call of nature.
“We are trying to arrest the accused and two sentries have also been suspended following the incident,” he said.
