SHILLONG: Sohra MLA TW Chyne has urged Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to speed up the process of payment of pending salaries to employees of Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL).
In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Chyne stated the employees are struggling to make ends meet.
It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister in a review meeting with MCCL employees on Friday assured a Rs 80 crore financial assistance to the company.
He also directed the Finance Department to provide the assistance to bail out the public sector unit.
Sangma said that the fund provided by the Government would be utilised in payment of pending salaries, unpaid power dues etc.
This is not the first time that Chyne has vouched for the employees’ cause. The UDP legislator had also raised the issue on several occasions last year.
