KSU leader killed in road mishap

JOWAI: The general secretary of KSU’s Nartiang circle was killed in a road mishap here on Sunday afternoon.
KSU leader, Orsiwell Sten, who was driving a Maruti car (ML04B-7357), met with an accident near the Soil & Water Conservation Office here. The KSU leader was travelling with three of his friends, when on reaching a sharp curve near the Soil & Water Conservation Office, the car dashed against a truck (AS01 9090) coming from the opposite direction, while overtaking other vehicles.
The truck was being driven by one Phri Dhar.
Sten and the other occupants of the Maruti car were immediately rushed to Jowai Mission Hospital where the former succumbed to his injuries. The three other injured were later shifted to Jowai Civil Hospital.
In a similar incident, four persons were injured, one of them seriously, after the vehicle in which they were travelling (ML05M-5783) dashed against a truck from behind.
Sources informed that the truck driver tried to speed away from the accident site and in the process pulled the other vehicle 250 metres ahead.
While the incident took place at Lad-Lumpariat, the truck and the car were found near Lad Jowai Public School.  The injured persons were admitted to Mission Hospital, Jowai.
