Lapang meets Meghalaya residents in Mumbai

SHILLONG:  Former Chief Minister and the Chief Adviser to the Meghalaya Government DD Lapang, who attended the 6th Annual Convocation Ceremony of the Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM) for the MBA and PGDM in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Information on February 27, met the Meghalaya students and officers at Mumbai on the same day evening after he arrived there.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lapang said that the students and officers belonging to Khasi, Jaintia, Garo community besides the members of Christian Fellowship, who are currently residing in Mumbai narrated various grievances.
They discussed with Lapang the problems being faced by the cancer patients who come from Meghalaya for treatment in Mumbai TATA Institutes and other hospitals. The residents urged the state government to help in providing a bus and some officials to assist the patients from Meghalaya who visit Mumbai to treat various illnesses.
The need to construct a Meghalaya House in Pune was also raised by the residents. Lapang also held a discussion with C.B.Sahkhar, the Deputy Residence Commissioner, Meghalaya House Mumbai.
The former Chief Minister assured them to take up their various grievances before the state government
Speaking as Chief Guest at Pune Institute of Business Management, Pune, during the convocation ceremony, Lapang lauded Raman Preet, the Executive Director of the Institute for his vision and mission and for providing job opportunities for the youths of the country.
He also said that the “country needs leaders not followers, masters not slaves, front liners not back benchers, assets and not liabilities”.
