SHILLONG: KCSSS Meghalaya will organise the “Red Ribbon Phawar Star Competition 2016” at Mawsynram. As a part of its ongoing Awareness Campaign targeting the youths of the State, Khasi Cultural & Social Service Society (KCSSS) in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) will organise “Red Ribbon Phawar Competition 2016” at Mawsynram.  It will be an open air contest on the popular Khasi folk form “Phawar” based on issues related to HIV and AIDS. Phawar is known to the people of the Khasi Hills as a popular folk genre whereby people compose and perform on various themes, ranging from social, political issues to general day to day topics, usually sung on festive occasions.
