SHILLONG: Following the arrest of the sister of a senior HNLC cadre, the militant outfit on Sunday slammed the East Khasi Hills Police and threatened to unleash terror in Shillong.
In a statement issued to a section of the media on Sunday, HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said that police wanted to harass the family members of the outfit and the case of arrest of Wandalin Diengdoh, the sister of HNLC cadre was an example. It may be mentioned that following the arrest of two overground workers of the HNLC, police, on March 5, picked up Wandalin Diengdoh (40) of Lower Mawprem who is the sister of senior HNLC cadre Phrangkupar Diengdoh alias Hep Metal who has been in hiding in Bangladesh for a long time.
Reacting to the arrest, the HNLC said that every family member of the HNLC cadres has a right to communicate with them, either through phone or other means of communication and this does not make then an overground worker of the outfit.
The HNLC threatened that the tactic of the police will compel the cadres to use explosives.
The outfit also wondered as to why the Government is slow in acting against politico-militant nexus.
