New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday rescheduled to March 22, the last date of making nominations for the second phase of Assam Assembly elections. The Commission, in its press note dated March 4, had announced that the last date of making nominations for the second phase of Assam Assembly elections as March 21.
In its press note dated February 24, it has already announced Biennial Elections to the Council of states from six states including Assam for which, the date of poll is March 21, 2016.
The Commission has received request seeking modification of the schedule for the second phase of the General Election in Assam so that the date of poll of Biennial Election to the Council of States does not collide with said last date of making nominations.
The remaining stages of election process that is last date of withdrawal of candidatures, date of poll and date of counting remain unchanged.
As per revised schedule for second phase of election for Assam Assembly elections, date of notification is March 15 instead of March 14, date of making nominations is March 22 instead of March 21 and date of scrutiny is March 24 instead of March 22.
Date of poll remains unchanged which is April 11.
