Prime accused in tourist taxi driver’s murder arrested

JOWAI: Jowai Police on Thursday arrested one of the prime accused in the murder of tourist taxi driver, Sorki Bang, who was taken to Kalain in Assam on the pretext of hiring his vehicle.
The arrested person has been identified as Thomas Jones Ryngkhlem of Wapungskur village in East Jaintia Hills. Superintendent of Police, WJH informed that Ryngkhlem was arrested from Kong-ong at Wapungshnong.
Earlier, police had arrested one Emi Nongpluh of Mustem village along with the tourist vehicle from Karimganj.
On December 21, three unidentified persons had kidnapped and later murdered the driver, Sorki Bang of Mustem village before disappearing with the vehicle.
Owner of the vehicle, Ricky Challam lodged a complaint the next day and later the vehicle was seized at Patharkandi in Karimganj district of Assam along with Nongpluh. The body of the driver was also recovered from Kalain the same day.
