SHILLONG: Community and Rural Development Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that he had written to the Union rural development minister on the issue of non-release of funds for implementing the Backward Region Grant Fund, a Central scheme, but was yet to receive a reply.  Replying to a question by Independent MLA, Saleng Sangma in the Assembly on Friday, Tynsong said that as many as 115 projects under Backward Region Grant Fund were not taken up in 2012-13 in South Garo Hills as the Ministry of Panchayati Raj did not release the full amount allocated.
Two projects were not taken up in 2013-14 due to the same reason.
