According to the victims, Maoists have threatened them to leave their homes, accusing that some locals were working as police informers. “Some tribals from villages of Abhujmad (located around 350 km away from the state capital Raipur) on Sunday reached Narayanpur district headquarter and lodged a complaint in this connection,” Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.
“As of now, there are reports that 21 families from different villages left their homes fearing murder by the rebels in the past one-and-half month,” he said.
Around 13 families – six from Parpa village, three each from Kutul and Kudliyar and one from Albeda, have registered an FIR in this regard at Narayanpur, he added.
“There are also reports of tribals vacating villages from Orchha region,” he added. In Parpa and Albeda, Naxals have recently killed two villagers branding them as police informers, the SP said.
“The ultras have also announced capital punishment for the villagers who will not vacate the village,” the SP said, adding the district administration is being informed in this connection so to arrange accommodation and other facilities to these families. (PTI)
