Compensation paid to 31 victims of terrorist attacks

SHILLONG: As many as 31 civilian victims of terrorist violence in the State have been provided with assistance as per the Central scheme for assistance to civilian victims of terrorist attacks.
In reply to a question by Saleng Sangma (Independent), Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told the Assembly on Monday that the scheme became effective from April 1, 2008. To another question, the chief minister said nine victims of communal clashes were paid assistance as per the Central scheme for assistance to civilian victims of communal violence.
The chief minister also said that compensation was paid to Josbina Sangma who was killed by terrorists (GNLA). Rs 1 lakh was paid to the next of kin of the deceased on June 5, 2014.
