SHILLONG: South Tura MLA John Leslee Sangma on Tuesday reiterated his support to the Garo Hills based pressure groups who have been opposing participation of non tribals in the GHADC.
He said his question in the Assembly was to find out what action the government has taken against the anti social elements who took advantage of the poll boycott call by the NGOs and obstructed the tribal voters and harassed them by tearing their EPIC cards.
“These anti social elements obstructed tribals but the non tribals were allowed to vote in Tura Bazar area freely and I am sure this is not the handiwork of NGOs,” he said.
