SHILLONG: Officers of the Social Welfare department on Thursday met Governor V. Shanmuganathan at Raj Bhavan.
Social Welfare Secretary and Director, H.M. Shangpliang, said the Governor wanted to know about the functioning of the department, particularly about children homes and orphanages in the State.
During the meeting, a PowerPoint presentation was also given on the implementation of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme in the State by the Social Welfare department. The Governor was also briefed on the various schemes being implemented by the department.
According to Shangpliang, the Governor was impressed with the functioning of the department and desired to have an interaction with persons with disabilities.
Shangpliang informed that the department will organize a meet at Raj Bhavan in the last part of April where the Governor will meet the PWDs and the NGOs who are working for their welfare.
