SHILLONG: A 17-year-old domestic help was rescued by the National Domestic Worker Movement (NDWM) Meghalaya Region from a house at Temple Road, Lower Lachumiere, in the city after she was allegedly assaulted by her employer.
The association led by Wanpynhun Kharsyntiew, Programme Coordinator North East Regional Domestic Workers’ Movement, rescued the girl after receiving information of her alleged maltreatment.
Speaking to reporters later, the girl narrated her plight and said that her employers used to harass her by not giving her enough food to eat.
“The employers hardly give me dinner; they served me breakfast and that too only after all my work was complete,” the girl added.
