Office-bearers elected
Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban in its general body meet on Sunday formed new office bearers for the year 2015-2016. Pankaj Deb was elected as the president, Gaurav Das as vice-president, Rajdeep Das as secretary, Khimraj Joshi and Ranjit Singh as joint secretary, Sambhu Deb and Subojit Das as cultural secretary and Arnab Paul as treasurer including other members were appointed. 9th Inter-Shillong cultural meet 2016 will be held on May 8 to mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore as well as opening ceremony of 9th Inter-Shillong Cultural Meet.
All Jaintia Hills Wine Dealers Association was formed on Thursday by East and West Jaintia Hills Liqour Traders at Ladrymbai with its head office at Ladrymbai and branch office at Jowai. The elected office-bearers are president, Khro Kyndiah, vice president Donush Siangshai, secretary, Dolly Khonglah, Jt secretary Anita Susngi, publicity secretary Ieimon Idabiang Dkhar, treasurer, Billy Nongtdu and advisor Philip Symply.
Annual sports day concludes
Umshing Secondary School, Mawlai has concluded its annual sports day on March 17.  Mawlai MDC P.T. Sawkmie who was the chief guest lauded the efforts of the school authorities while also assuring aid to the school where over 400 students are enrolled with 18 teachers. The day culminated with prize distribution to the winners.
AIDS awareness programme
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) Seng Khasi College organized an HIV/AIDS awareness programme in the college. More than 50 RRC and NSS volunteers were present. The aim of the programme was to encourage students to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS among youths and the community.
