Govt to provide power to more villages

SHILLONG: The state government has assured that effective steps will be taken to provide electricity to non electrified villages in the State.In reply to legislators Jemino Mawthoh, Embhalang Syiemlieh (both UDP) John Leslee Sangma (Ind) and Witting Mawsor (HSPDP), Sports and Youth affairs Minister Zenith  Sangma, on behalf of Power Minister Clement Marak, who was absent, said that the department is facing a lot of problems due to high demand for power from the rural residents. However, he said that the government is trying its best to provide electricity to all the villages in the State. He also assured that the department will rectify the problems arising out of the damaged transformers in State.
