GNLA cadre surrenders
A GNLA cadre belonging to the outfit’s 6th batch of recruits and operating in the Chokpot-Gasuapara region has surrendered to police on Wednesday. GNLA militant Nikseng Ch Sangma (19) who went by the name of Wareng abandoned his group and fled before giving himself to police. Hailing from Daritgre village of Gasuapara he was a private soldier working under the command of GNLA commander Baltush. He handed over an empty pistol to authorities.
Coal laden truck detained
West Jaintia Police on Wednesday detected 4 trucks loaded with newly extracted coal at Khliehrangnah, Shangpung under Raliang Police Outpost. The trucks were driven by Emon Lyngdoh of Sohkymphor (ML 04 4339),  Tiplang Rabon of Muthlong (ML04 A 6823), Mewan Suchiang of Shangpung (ML 04 B 9697) and  Kular Papiah of Muthlong (ML04 7903). Police have registered cases against them under appropriate section of law.
Gang busted
Police has arrested three persons in Williamnagar for allegedly forming a criminal gang. Officer-in-Charge, Williamnagar police station lodged a complaint that one Sengchon Marak along with Ismail Sangma, Simon G Momin, Pangsang N Marak, Limai A Sangma, Silchang Ch Sangma and others, have formed a criminal gang and possessed small arms with the intention to extort money from businessmen by serving demand notes and to create fear psychosis in the minds of the people.
In this connection, police arrested Pangsang N Marak, Limai A Sangma and Silchang Ch Sangma.
Cheating case
Barlak Roy Lakiang proprietor of M/s HBL Agency, lodged a complaint that his employees Himmot O Lamare, Chieflyfield Laloo, Reform Dkhar and Heimon Lamare, collected cash amounting to Rs. 30,96,775 in his absence from different shops retailers in connection with the goods purchased in the name of the agency and failed to return the money to the complainant.  One of the accused, Himmot O Lamare also destroyed all the statements / documents / data saved in the computer of the agency.
Juvenile allegedly rapes minor
One juvenile allegedly raped one eight year old girl at Rasnagiri village in South Garo Hills. The incident happened on March 22. Police apprehended the juvenile delinquent and the matter is under investigation.
Body recovered
A body was found at Umphyrnai under Madanrting Police station. Police said that on March 22, dead body of Nangshanbor Nongrum (35) was found hanging in an abandoned house at Umphyrnai under Madanrting PS. Necessary formalities were observed and matter is under enquiry.
