SHILLONG: UDP youth wing has taken exception to two circulars issued by BSNL which are contradictory as far as declaration of holidays are concerned.
In a letter addressed to the Chief General Manager NE1 Circle, BSNL on March 23, UDP Youth Wing general secretary Hamlet Dohling said there are different circular issued by New Delhi corporate office and the office of NE circle regarding the holidays on Holi and Good Friday.
The UDP pointed out that one circular states that marketing and call centre staff should work during holidays on Holi and Good Friday.
The UDP has asked the Chief General Manager to look into the matter and respect the sentiments of the people of the state as Holi and Good Friday are days of religious significance.
“Meghalaya being a predominately Christian state, it does not augur well for a company like yours to disturb the practice of the faithful,” the letter said.
