SHILLONG: Sacked adhoc employees of the PWD have threatened to intensify their agitation if the State Government does not reinstate their services.
Addressing media persons here on Thursday, president of All Meghalaya Officiating Employees PWD Roads and Building Association (AMOEPRBA), K Marwein said that the sudden termination after serving the department for decades has come as a rude shock to the adhoc employees.
He asserted that there were rules which clearly indicated scope for regularization of their services.
Meanwhile, the association, which was earlier disallowed to hold a sit-in-demonstration, has now been granted permission by the district authority for the same on March 29.
The association members also rubbished all talks about them being political appointees.
“It was the department which appointed us,” they said. Executive member of the association Baris Thabah also alleged that termination of adhoc employees was being carried out only in the PWD.
