BSF seizes logs, rafts; apprehends Indian liquor smuggler

SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Baghmara, South Garo Hills District have once again seized 65 Cft wooden logs of approximately worth Rs. 4.5 lakh along with bamboo rafts on Sunday while being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Simsang River.
Besides the huge consignments of wooden logs concealed under the bamboo raft, coal is also being attempted to be smuggled, concealed under such rafts in bags through rivers and nullahs.
In another incident, the BSF troops, deployed at Dalu, South Garo Hills District intercepted one Indian liquor smuggler identified as Sama Saha (30), from Dalu in South Garo Hills with 39 bottles of liquor.
The BSF had laid a mobile check post after receiving a tip off in the particular case.
The modus operandi of these smugglers is to carry out their nefarious activities through rivers and nullahs.
A BSF statement in this regard said that the troops are keeping a regular vigil to foil any such attempt and has succeeded in making several seizures.
