City gets Northeast’s 1st digital branch
SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma urged the State Bank of India to conduct aggressive sensitization of clients in view of the ever increasing concerns of safety for internet banking.
Speaking on the inauguration of the first Digital Branch of State Bank of India in North East here on Wednesday at the premises of State Bank of India, Main Branch, Shillong, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the clients must be apprised on the dos and don’ts of internet banking.
He expressed concern over internet banking security and the need to adopt higher application system that will be integrated in a manner that will be tamper proof thereby making internet banking safe for its clients.
He also asked the SBI to open more branches in the state.
This branch of SBI is the 101st branch in Meghalaya and the first digital branch in North East driven by smart, user friendly and state of the art technology with a wide range of banking facilities like internet banking, internet savings, mobile banking among others with minimum human intervention. It is a self contained and self sufficient branch with added safety features.
The Inaugural function was also attended by Chief General Manager, North East Circle, PVSLN Murty and other senior officials of State Bank of India.
