SHILLONG: Three persons have been arrested relating to the recovery of an IED from a labour camp at 9th Mile Baridua under Khanapara PS in Ri Bhoi.
The accused – Md. Majibur Rehman (28), Md. Kuddus Ali (19) and Md. Cherajul Islam @ Disgos Ali (38) – were arrested on Saturday.
When contacted, Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police G.D. Kharwanlang said, “As of now nothing can be said and investigations are continuing.”
Earlier on Friday, a powerful IED was recovered by a joint team of Meghalaya and Assam police. Preliminary reports stated that it weighed about 2.5 kg.
