TURA: The All Garo Hills Muster Roll Workers’ Union (AGHMRWU) has strongly opposed the sudden transfer order issued by the Forest Department to several of its muster roll workers.
According to the union transfer orders were issued to 19 MR workers by the District Forest Officer (DFO), Territorial Division, Tura a few days back without citing any reasons for their transfer.
Strongly opposing the move the MR workers have vowed to defy the order and instead urged the DFO to immediately withdraw the earlier order issued.
The union reminded that most of the MR workers who were issued transfer orders had been working in the department for so long that they were entitled to be given the Regular Casual Worker (RCW) status and promoted.
