NGOs meet over illegal felling and supply of trees

SHILLONG: Dainadubi area of North Garo Hills district called a meeting on April 6 to take strict actions against illegal selling of trees which are supplied to areas outside Garo Hills.
NGOs comprising of AAYF, Dainadubi unit, FKJGP, AGPF, ADE and DULO have decided to take strong action to stop all those who were selling trees illegally. These organizations expressed concern over rapid environment depletion due to unwarranted deforestation. They urged the officers of the Forest Department of Garo Hills to take legal action against the culprits.
