Nongkhlaw villages affected in squall; 34 houses damaged

SHILLONG: The villages under Nongkhlaw in West Khasi Hills were also left badly affected by the thunder squalls causing damages as per sources.
Out of the 34 affected houses, major damages were visible in eight houses due to the thunder squall which hit the area on April 5, the local legislator Metbah Lyngdoh, who visited the area said on Thursday.
The legislator provided financial assistance to the affected villages and assured that he would take up with the Block Development Officer of Mairang on providing further assistance from the government.
Metbah said he visited all the affected families to assess the situation in the presence of Sordar Karius Dkhar and members of the Dorbar accompanied by Gram Sevak of Mairang Community and Rural Development Block.
