SHILLONG: As many as 12 two-wheelers parked outside St Anthony’s Junior School at Don Bosco Square on Friday were clamped by traffic cops.
The two-wheelers belonged to parents and guardians who had gone off to fetch their wards.
A. Hussain, the traffic cop who issued challans to the violators along with his colleague, said the parents/ guardians in search of parking space outside the school wall near the Hopkinson Tank Road pulled the demarcation dividers along with the conjoined ropes to extend the parking space and then parked their two wheelers.
The guardians had not only broken the law but had also reduced the already narrow turning width considerably, Hussain said, while adding that the parents/ guardians know very well the demarcation and the ‘no-parking’ sign on the school wall and yet they resorted to this illegal act, when the cops were attending to other roads in the area.
