City woman gets Commandant rank in AR

SHILLONG: Dr. Mary Hranngul, a city resident, the first woman Medical Officer of Assam Rifles has been promoted to the rank of Commandant on Friday.
Dr. Hranngul is the eldest daughter of (L) Rev. C. Hranngul and Kimi Hranngul of Madanrting.
She is an alumni of St. Mary’s College, Shillong and Gauhati Medical College.
Dr. Hranngul is also the only Medical Officer till date to have been awarded a police medal for gallantry by the President of India during the Republic Day celebration 2012 for her active role in counter insurgency operations in Manipur.
In her 13 year career, she has served in Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland in various appointments. She is presently serving in HQ DGAR as a staff officer.
