Eye camp
The NSS unit of Government Hindi Higher Secondary School, in collaboration with Mission Trust, Bawri Nethralaya, Shillong organized free eye camps on March 30 and April 8. Around 1100 students benefitted from the camps.
Relief
The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, has released an amount of Rs 7000 to a family affected by a fire incident in 2014-2015 under Thadlaskein Block in West Jaintia Hills.
Mock drill
In the aftermath of the cyclonic storm that hit Shillong and its adjoining areas on April 5, the District Disaster Management Authority, Mawkyrwat in collaboration with the office of the Block Development Officer, Mawkyrwat conducted two-day training cum mock drill on disaster management on April 7-8 at Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat.
Price revised
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Jaintia Hills has informed that the price of S.K. oil has been revised. The wholesale price of S.K. oil from Jowai and Thadlaskein depots will be Rs 15.40 per litre and wholesale price from Shangpung outlet will be Rs 17.55 per litre. The retail price in Jowai and Thadlaskein will be Rs 17.35 while the retail price in Shangpung will be Rs 19.70 per litre.
Cattle seized
In connection with the seizure of eight heads of cattle from Merengipara village in South West Garo Hills on April 3, further report indicated that Polly A Sangma, VDP secretary of Nogorpara handed over fifteen heads of cattle to Mahendraganj PS, which were found abandoned by suspected smugglers near the village.
